Football Facilities – Wales Grassroots Facilities Fund

During 2021, the UK Government has been announcing its intention to invest £230 million during the period 1st April 2021 to 31st March 2025, towards improving and increasing grassroots football facilities across the UK. This has included an initial £25 million in respect of the period 1st April 2021 to 31st March 2022 (Phase 1 funding period).
The funding forms part of the UK Government’s levelling-up agenda and will be prioritised for left-behind communities and used to help address health inequalities and encourage children and young people to get more active by enabling more people to access high-quality facilities that can be used for football and other sports. Whilst Wales’s share of the £230m has yet to be confirmed, the UK Government has now confirmed that Wales will receive £1.3m in respect of Phase 1 funding.
